The workshop will build upon the sessions and content explored by workshop participants from the 2011 Self-Generated Income courses. Responding to theuncertaintyof traditional revenuestreamsfor nonprofit organizations, thisfull-day workshop willexplore aspectsof strategies and business plans to create self-generatedincome through social ventures and non-performing assets that may be essential to not only survive but to thrive.

Speaker Bios

Jimmie R. Alford, L.L.D., L.H.D., Founder and Chair of The Alford Group, (www.alford.com),  who with almost 50 years in the sector, brings a unique perspective to the challenges and opportunities with nonprofit organization. Selected twice by the Nonprofit Times as one of the 50 most influential leaders in the Country, he teaches graduate courses and professional development trainings for leaders who are seeking a more strategic path to success. this will be a session for leaders who are seeking a more strategic path to success.

Marc J. Lane, a nationally recognized business and tax attorney, is the Founder of Marc J. Lane Wealth Group (www.MarcJLane.com).  He championed Illinois' Low-profit Limited Liability Company (L3C) legislation, which authorizes the new hybrid business form that can leverage foundations' program-related investments to access trillions of dollars of market-driven capital for ventures with modest financial prospects, but the possibility of major social impact.  Marc is the author of 34 books, including Profitable Socially Responsible Investing: An Institutional Investor's Guide, Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC, and Social Enterprise: Empowering Mission-Driven Entrepreneurs, American Bar Association.
